I swear this is propaganda. I have 3 farmers’ markets within biking distance of me (that I’ve visited regularly, there are another 2 on inconvenient days for me), in a capital city. All are cheaper than the grocery store. Yet when I tell people I do my weekly shop at the farmer’s markets, they always say something to this effect. The popular opinion simply does not match the reality. There are some stalls which are more expensive, but they are usually targeting a much higher quality, and are normally prepared products (pasta, sauces, etc.) rather than raw produce.

2·1 month agoI’ve been meeting my music discovery needs with a combination of community radio and bandcamp - plus just talking to friends, though your mileage may vary depending on your friends’ taste.
That’s sort of where I’m at right now to be honest. Google has removed or plan to remove basically everything that gave Android an edge over iOS. Meanwhile Apple, for all their flaws, has actually put out some pretty compelling offerings with the iPhone 17 line both hardware- and software-wise, and has made meaningful improvements in the realm of repairability and side-loading, albeit under regulatory pressure. At this point, it’s looking like going to be harder than I’d like to choose between the two when I go to replace my phone in 3-5 years - provided both companies stay on their current trajectories.

Not even, I fear - Matcha Latte is tea.
Well then, come, let us touch grass together.
There should be an “all” tab or feed that you can go to on your platform - Mastodon has one, not sure about Pixelfed, and Lemmy has one too, that may give you the diversity that you’re looking for?

Kinda sorta not really? The NixOS config allows you to configure GRUB, too, and doing it like that is pretty safe - plus you can boot into an older iteration and fix your mistakes via the GRUB fallback prompt if need be AFAIK.

Yeah dog, we have flow, yeah dog, this is high kick nice
The boomerangs subtly implying the real truth of the matter - that the Australians were behind it all along! No wonder “the Bush” was involved!
The only valid reason to say “those union clowns” I suppose

memes@lemmy.world•You changing them or leaving them for months until it's the right time again?
2·1 year agoIt takes me 10 minutes to do anything when I first wake up in the morning, coffee or no, to be fair. I’m not a morning person. I also manually grind my beans (using one of those older hopper-and-box grinders), and do a V60 pourover with water slightly cooler than boiling (somewhere between 80-90°C, based off vibes I don’t have a temperature controlled kettle).
Or at least, I did, before I switched to a machine. Still do the V60 later in the day, tho, it’s a nice little ritual.

3·1 year agoYeah, that’s absolutely fair enough to be honest. I’m the kind of guy that likes to sleep in as much as possible and take my mornings real slow, so cutting off the extra 10 minutes that it used to take me to make coffee… sweet. My partners’ family’s fridge has a clock in it though, and I’ll never understand that. I think coffee machine is where I draw the line.

4·1 year agoThe stove I don’t get, but the coffee machine needs it so that you can set it to run 5 minutes before your alarm goes off in the morning. Getting a coffee machine with a timer recently has revolutionized my morning TBH.

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Oopsie, Visual Studio License expired, so the build server stopped working
26·1 year agoVisual Studio and VS Code are two separate products, I’m afraid. Visual Studio is a .NET IDE and build tool, as opposed to VS Code which is essentially an extensible text editor.
Edit: also the screenshot looks like it might be from Slack?

Maybe, but in this case I was talking about the popular opinion in my city. That said, my sibling in another city has the same thing going on.
