I moved my community by just adding a notice in the sidebar, should I have done it differently? 😭
They’re the exact opposite of a fascist…
That was the case in the past but it’s not true anymore. China is just the best in a lot of sectors and also oftentimes the only one who can produce certain things. Here’s a video where someone tried to make a product in the US only, it explains a lot of that: https://youtu.be/3ZTGwcHQfLY

11·6 months agoThose distros are fine, I haven’t heard anything bad about them. The only distros I wouldn’t recommend are Ububtu and Manjaro (I can explain why if you want).
About Excel, it doesn’t work on Linux unfortunately. But you have some options. You can try LibreOffice and OnlyOffice (you can install them on Windows to try them out before switching) and see if they’re enough for your needs. There’s also a web version of Excel which you can use in your browser but it doesn’t have all the features. If you really need Excel, you can also try using a virtual machine with Windows and run it inside of that but dual booting might be easier for you at that point.

1·7 months agoI actually use the Vesktop Flatpak. It’s got working screen sharing with audio on Wayland (not sure if the official client has implemented that yet) and it has Vencord preinstalled for plugins and themes.

42·8 months agoYes, I think it’s called Yukkake
Maybe I should install one of these but I would have expected Fedora to come with something like this preinstalled tbh
I’ve used Linux for years and I also have a
~/Applicationsfolder where I put AppImages, applications cloned with git and stuff like that in. E.g. I have the last Yuzu AppImage in there, since it got taken down, but I also made a.desktopfile for it, so I can launch it through the application menu. Btw, you should be able to just double click AppImages in your file explorer to open them.

4·9 months agoFascists are rising up all over the world, it’s the same here. The fascists have already taken power in the US and it looks like they’ll do the same here in Germany too if nothing majorly changes. As soon as our economic system encounters a really bad recession, people notice that something’s going wrong and needs to change. Fascists take that opportunity to give people easy enemies to blame, saying that the “others” (nowadays that’s mostly muslims, immigrants and trans people) just need to be removed from society and everything will be fine again. They find explanations for why that’s the case and justify it by saying that they just want to “remigrate” them and also only the bad ones that don’t work and stuff like that. What they want to do and how they want to do it never changes tho, they’re still fascists no matter how many justifications and euphemisms they find for the cruel things they want to do. Unfortunately, their strategy still works perfectly, partly because they’re being supported by the rich. The rich know that the change people want will either result in fascists taking power, in which case they’d still be able to make loads of money, or leftists taking power, in which case their wealth would be taken away and given back to society. And just like with the companies they own, profit is always more important than human lifes. The fascists have convinced large parts of the population, the nationalised media (that was established after WW2 as a neutral source of information, so fascists can’t spread their propaganda, didn’t work out that well) and neoliberal politicians (so everyone who’s not in Die Linke or the AFD).

191·1 year agoLiberals working together with fascists while socialists are the only ones who are standing against it?! That’s never happened before, especially not in Germany. But I’m sure we’ll just have to say “Oh no, who could have seen this coming”, apologize and then ban the fascist AND socialist parties again and everything will be fine again.

461·1 year agoCapitalism is totally different from a ponzi scheme. In a ponzi scheme, the profits go up to the person at the top and you always need new people that come in, otherwise the whole thing will fall apart and the people at the bottom will be the ones that suffer. Under capitalism however, the profits of everyone’s work will go up to the top and you always need new workers to come in, otherwise the system will fall apart and the people at the bottom will suffer. Totally different.
