Kids at 2yo just need way more helicoptering than they do a year or two later. i’ve never seen anyone promote the values of Clean Architecture in the practical world. The only reason I even know about it, really, is because it’s a pretty popular topic for amateur/beginner developers to come in and ask about, because they read a book or a blog article about it, or are being taught about it in a class. And the response is always, universally, “Don’t use Clean Architecture, use Vertical Slice Architecture.”

I get the vibe that it’s been popularized in the same pattern as microservices or lambda functions: someone at a super-scaled company like Google or Amazon published a blog post about it, and how it works for them for some niche scenario, and everyone latched on to it as trendy, despite the fact that their scenarios are NOTHING alike

I choose to believe this is satire. Also that this man holds no significant position of prominence within the industry.

Slighly funny as a joke, but it’s a real nonsense comparison. Public code hosted on GitHub is constantly changing, a physicsl copy is basically meaningless. Plus, you ALREADY own your code, by nature of it being DRM-free. You can copy it as many times as you want and store it on whatever medium you want. If this was something the PS6 was offering, the cancellation of physical media would be a nothing burger.

PlayStation has announced that they will stop producing physical releases, soon, and I believe they’ve said the PS6 will have no disc drive at all.

There’s a variety of reasons, but the biggest is that Lemmy as a whole is FAR more class-conscious than the average populace, or even that average internet user, and generative AI has been developed by the wealthy and powerful, as a tool to oppress everyone else.

Machine learning in medicine and healthcare has been around for decades, and has basically nothing to do with the LLM and image generation garbage that has now colloquially become known as “AI”.

Half the problem with “AI hate” is how goddamned nebulous of a term it’s become. When people say they hate AI, they’re almost certainly talking about specifically all the new generative commercialized stuff from just the past few years, but so many people hear that and assume something a LOT broader.

I was briefly mindboggled until I realized “Oh, it’s just Fourier transforms.” Still a really cool application, though.
