I don’t think you could get OEM parts that would actually fit in that space tbh. Also the guaranteed software support from valve, and set spec list allowing devs to optimize for it are some pretty huge bonuses over other prebuilts. I’m not saying building your own comp is a bad idea, but for the average user who just wants to be able to game at medium settings in most games, this has some pretty major advantages.

Ah, maybe they could make some cool prebuilt with Linux already built in. Hmm and make it small enough to fit under a TV in a small shelf 🤔
Sorry but you can easily do that. The average person cannot. Most people would have to do multiple weeks of research into what different parts of a computer even are to have any hope of building a PC. Lemmy is one of the most out of touch places I’ve ever seen as far as tech literacy goes. The average person likely couldn’t even tell you what an operating system is, let alone know what Linux is.

21·3 months agoLife would still exist. I don’t think there is anything humanity could do that would completely end life. There is life living tens of kilometers underground in the lithosphere and life in such remote caves that have been separated from all other environments for millions of years.
Don’t pretty much all modern .zip managers know to not open zip bombs anymore?

12·2 years agoTo me that’s honestly more RDR2. That games amount of detail is pretty staggering.

Fire just needs and oxidizer, and their are other elements that can take it’s place if their is no oxygen. (I believe bromine and iodine but I’m not sure about that.)
The sun actually isn’t made of “fire.” It’s made primarily if hydrogen and some helium. It “burns” because the immense gravity of all of that matters crushes the hydrogen atoms together, fusing them into more helium. This fusion releases a LOT of energy. For reference of how much hydrogen the sun burns, it burns around 600 MILLION tons of it each second. That’s 600 million tons of the lightest element there is.
I don’t see why it wouldn’t be a market for all the buildings around it too?
It’s very common to have grocery stores in the bottom floors of buildings that are open to everyone, not just the residents of that building. And in parts of Europe it is the norm for large commercial/residential buildings to reserve the bottom floor for small retail businesses. It would greatly improve cities to have this.
