Memes@lemmy.ml•is this actually fortnite???
21·4 months agoTwo main ways fortnite keeps the game “fresh” is adding new “skins” (player character appearance) and “emotes” (actions). They licensed the adventure time and spongebob characters as “skins” which players can earn or purchase.
The adventure time characters appear to be doing a basic “hug emote”, which is one of several interactive emotes that, if one player does it, another player can reciprocate by approaching and engaging the emote. It looks like they’re making out because this emote was designed for basic skins, not specific to these skins.
I’m not sure if that’s just spongebob’s face or not, but I assume it’s an emote exclusively designed for that skin(see Carl’s comment reply below)Edit: The primary game mechanic is third person shooter, though they’ve got several popular roleplay style game modes/options where folks just fuck around. It’s become kind of like roblox, in which it’s now a platform for game makers to make their own game and publish it for others to play
Somewhat relevant, I really enjoyed this comment on lesser evilism: https://lemmy.world/comment/20970769
And I like what DB0 has to say about electoralism, but I can’t find the link I saved about it
It didn’t occur to me that the poll may function that way. Does it? I thought this was engagement bait in which the poll’s author lists only wrong answers as options

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Can you please explain the last joke you made that you're sure no one got?
18·4 months agoIn 7th grade, my class was doing an exercise in which you describe yourself using a list of adjectives starting with each letter in your name. My last name ends in the letter H, so I described myself with 11 grandiose adjectives, followed by “and most of all: Humble.” I didn’t get a single laugh, so I just ended up sounding like a narcissist
PEMDAS isn’t obvious to “common people”? Why not? It doesn’t seem like an arbitrary convention to me…
If “×” means “groups of,” then “2+2×4” means “two plus two groups of four” which only makes sense, to me, to be read as “two plus two groups of four” rather than “two plus two groups of four”
Sure the order of operations could be arbitrarily different, but I feel like we settled on that order because it simply makes more sense intuitively.
I’m aware of the possibility that it only feels natural and intuitive to me because I was taught that way, but I at least don’t think that applies to this specific example

Edit:
I have edited the comment you replied to. Please tell me if this is easier to follow. They want to help you.
I looked at your posts. I don’t think you’re a troll. Your words can seem mean.
It seems you have some health issues. This helps me understand you better. I have friends with similar problems. When my friends struggle, they can sound like you sound, but they are good people.
I see you are upset about getting banned. You probably don’t like getting banned.
If you keep acting the same way, they will keep banning you. Your comments can annoy people. I understand why the moderators step in to help. They want to keep the community safe.
You need to change something. Please think more before you post.
You might try therapy, medicine, or other types of help to feel better.
If you want to avoid bans and deleted comments, you need to change how you act. The moderators won’t change, so you have to change.
I don’t know you. I don’t know what help you’re getting. I’m just a stranger. But I wanted to share this with you.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is something you can see, hear, smell, etc., that others can't?
13·4 months agoI see certain shades of blue as grey, while my partner can distinguish more shades of blue than the average person, leaving me often feeling like I’m being fucked with
I wear almost exclusively grayscale clothing, except for a pair of pants that are apparently navy blue, and a shirt that’s supposedly slate blue
