Just for this returned to FreshRSS on tried it on my Yunohost server. Added a youtube user feed and got a list of their latest videos. They dont actually seem to be playable tho? No play button, just a picture and the link.

Dont know if they are supposed to have controls?

So its about self-hosting with certain qualities (not giving up privacy or lockin). Not about privacy in general.

Rather the exeption then rule, but it can be done if instances add it. For example social.edu.nl for all vocational and higher education in NL uses OpenConext to let you log in with your institution account.

Afaik there is a lot of federation but not your identity (meaning you cant use one account for the other).

I don’t know, but I guess the reason why it isn’t done yet is because nobody perceives it as a problem. It would require a repository plugin to install plugins I think. But it all comes down to plugin distribution and deployment. Mostly if you want something outside the default repository you can just upload it to your own install / stack. If a developer provide alternative download ways. Like a github release for example.

Can only be done by default … also means there are other options.

Matt disappoints but their plugin repository isn’t a vendor lock in like Apple denying other app stores (without acts enforcing it etc).
