As genocide per definition requires internt, the argument that “whoops, it was an accident!” might actually hold up in court.

Of course it is not an accident, and central authorities (Netanyahu and his fascists) know exactly what they’re doing. But this is what they’re betting on, and time will tell if it works out for them.

The genocide convention and the state of Israel were brothers in birth, both being responses to the atrocities of the Holocaust. This time around they will be reunited as enemies.

I was listening to BBC World Report this morning. They made quick mention of it along with some other things happening in the conflict, then went on to introduce their “expert” who would illuminate the situation.

Their so called expert was an employee of some Israeli institute of security or whatever, and he talked on for ages with minimal push-back about how the israeli army is doing everything by the book and how “Gaza is safe for civilians, and if it’s not it’s the fault of Hamas”.

That was all the coverage they did.

What a fucking joke.

Even so, it would still only add up to 46% of the total population. By this logic, 108.7% of the country would have to be Democrat.

I guess it works if the votes are counted the way the Republicans claim they are.

All they want is to destroy the planet and carry out their genocides in peace. Is that really too much to ask?

Trying to place people as left/right in an international forum like this is a complete waste of time. I’m writing from a Polish instance, where communist symbols are banned and the political left/right dimension looks completely different from my Scandinavian home country. In my traditionally left-leaning home country I’m a leftist. By the minds of many Americans I’m a stupid centrist because I’m not ideologically pure enough - Social Democracy is just capitalism with a human face etc. And don’t get me started on the Russians and the Chinese.

I can accept that the two officers in the suicide watch were just incompetent fools. And I completely believe Epstein killed himself - the failure is merely that he was allowed to do so.

But he had already attempted suicide. And the whole damn world was dying for his testimony. Tell any old idiot off the street to watch him to make sure he don’t kill himself, and they’d drink whatever amount of coffee it would take to watch him for a week straight without blinking an eye. Still these idiots manage to hire two morons for the job that cannot be arsed to do the bare minimum.

If you took the job seriously, considering the information Epstein had and the fact that he had already attempted suicide, wouldn’t you make sure to put officers you knew you could trust on the job? Rather than the two only idiots on this planet who apparently don’t care enough about uncovering a network of child rapists to do even the bare minimum of their jobs?

Sure, it’s probably just idiots all down the line, and just a funky accident that it ended up serving the interests of the rich, powerful, and morally corrupt. Even so, it just doesn’t sit right with me, and I don’t think it ever will.

It’s just that there’s a limit to how much convenient fucking incompetence I’m willing to believe in, and this story is pushing that limit pretty fiercely.

I know Russians who live in Europe and who are deeply anti war and Putin, but whose families are still completely buying into Russian propaganda and who think their own children are lying to them.

I also know Russians from less brainwashed families who are critical.

More strikingly perhaps, I had a friend a little less than a decade ago who went to study in Russia for half a year, and came back completely apologetic for everything Putin stood for. I cut contact and haven’t heard from her since, so I have no idea where she stands now, but it was a forceful demonstration of the propaganda apparatus. It’s not that they’re necessarily evil or bad people, they’ve just been subject to world-class propaganda for decades. Opposing Putin after all that takes quite a lot of work.

Genuinely curious who’ll be killed off first - him or Putin.

Somehow it strikes me how two copies of the Quran and a box of dates takes up half the space of the evidence. Makes you question the thought process behind it all even more. “Sweet, juicy dates - yup, we can firmly establish that arabs have been here!”

This I am not so sure. We are talking about a country that managed to develop nuclear weapons in secrecy, and whose secret service is known for killing off people all around the world. It would be surprising to say the least if they didn’t participate in information warfare at all.

That said, American evangelical Christians seem happy to act as their disinformation footsoldiers free of charge…

It bothers me more than it should that people think the fucking Israel Palestine conflict is somehow even remotely simple. This shit goes back thousands of years, it didn’t start in 1947 no matter how much the British fucked up and made everything worse.

These morons will proclaim that this is a genocide in one sentence, and shout death to Israel in the next.

If you truly care about genocides it shouldn’t be too difficult to see the problem here.

It makes me almost miss a few weeks ago when I was being called an antisemite any time I wrote anything critical of Israel online. These days I apparently don’t care enough because I don’t believe in answering one genocide with another one.

That said, the Israelis did repeatedly vote for their genocidal leaders. Anything they’ve thought about the people of Germany throughout the decades should be coming right back at them.

The situation is complex, but one of the few things that are relatively simple is the matter of Netanyahu. He should have been in a prison cell rather than in office for a while now.

Really though, read up on the Columbian peace process of you’re genuinely interested in peace, war, and human rights.

These issues are complicated as fuck, and there are many bad things to be said about the Colombian context for sure. But their peace treaty if a marvel of modern diplomacy; it’s to diplomacy what the Hoover dam was to engineering.

A deeply Christian, well educated colleague of mine noted that “while it’s sad what is happening, I saw a protest and I think they went too far”. So I asked in which way, as I hadn’t seen anything in the media. She responded that she had heard people say “Allah Akbar”.

I had to explain to her that contrary to popular belief, “Allah Akbar” does not mean “death to the infidels”. She was genuinely surprised.

If the racism fails to do the trick, a lot of people can probably sleep well at night knowing the dead children were Muslims.

My family just wouldn’t exist anymore if it lost that many people.

And I can’t help but feel that’s the entire point.
