Killed everything in my planter box in our communal grow area and spreading ticks everywhere they go. Bastards.
My dog has woken up from his own farts and gotten angry at his butt for making a smell.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Men can take their shirts off for hot days and exercise. Why can't women do the same in 2025?
75·7 months agoWhere I am it is frowned upon with men going topless in public spaces unless it is a beach or some private area or they are doing heavy work in particularly hot weather and not just regular spring or summer. It is tolerated but barely so that men are running or exercising without a shirt. Women with just a sport bra or even a bikini top are quite common though, both in exercise and even in town. Personally I think it is equally tacky to be undressed like that regardless of gender, but I’m not really bothered enough to care. It would be considered very rude and sexist to comment on a women in bikini top to dress up though, unless it was upon entry to a space or venue where people are expected to wear appropriate clothes. Clubs tolerate women in barely tops but would not accept a man bare chested.
In business it is expected that men are fully dressed and buttoned to regardless the temperature while women can wear whatever clean and neat that is not showing off too much skin. In casual situations women can have any amount of cleavage but if a man buttons down the shirt so that the top hairs of his chest are showing it is an open invitation for ridicule for trying to be macho even if it is obviously for trying to cool down in 35°C weather. Unbuttoning a shirt all the way is a definitive no-no unless you’re a teen or a country bumpkin.
On beaches anybody can be wearing anything though on regular beaches some sort of bottoms are mandatory. From tiny string bottoms only to shorts or swimming suit to burqini. In “proper” sauna you are not allowed swimsuits or shorts at all for hygiene reasons but in public sauna they are mandatory.
So, you see, it is not binary good and bad and humans and society is more complicated than men horny.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How do you appreciate something before it's gone?
1·8 months agoTake a moment to think about the good things you have. Bring this state of mind in your daily ventures. Notice more good things you have not thought about before. Imagine life without. Think of people living without them. Appreciate that you have them.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•what is something silly you do for no other reason than its just normal for you?
2·8 months agoWild strawberries grow small and give very tasty little fruits. They are easy to grow on a balcony though quite dramatic and need plenty of water when there is sun and heat. First year they didn’t give almost any fruit but second year on I have a handful of harvest daily all of late summer. Very satisfying.
I’ve tried having small bushes of goose berries but they got hit with mildew, probably because there wasn’t enough exchange of air.
Try different things, see what works where you are.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Product packaging pandering to conservative AmericansEnglish
15·8 months agoChinese OEM resellers will print anything on the product and the packaging. It’s just another sale for them. Same guy probably sells it with ten different brandings and flags and quotes and slogans for different markets.
In theory, sure. However in the real world there is no escaping neither the ratings or the gig economy. Every single delivery company here does it. When it is possible to choose the delivery I pick the postal service. They too asking for ratings, but at least they have regular employees though some delivery points that are stores and kiosks have a suspiciously high rotation of staff. Not every vendor uses the postal service and sometimes the only option is to order from them or be without.
I don’t have any grandiose ideas of it having any effect, but I will not participate in rating the performance of my fellow humans that are service workers. They do the job to do the job and the job is not to suck up to me. And everybody has the right to have a bad day or whatever without some manager making it even worse.
Realistically it is better to support political parties that legislate wages and working conditions and such so that people working any jobs have a decent wage and are protected from abuse.
Every single person that I get requested to rate gets five stars plus a positive comment because fuck you gig economy.

3·8 months agoI always find it funny when somebody mentions The Fountain as an example of this stupid “modern art” (as in contemporary) and I get to tell them that it is from 1917. Like dude, if you missed out on the last hundred years of what art is, maybe you should humble down on your opinions.
People don’t have to like everything, but I find it frustrating how people think their uninformed opinion is as valid as someone that knows and understands what it is, why it is what it is, and how it is important in a historical context.
There are plenty of topics I know very little about. I may have ideas and opinions about things, but I would never imagine myself being superior to people who are actually knowledgeable of the field.

21·8 months agoRight. Because any statement about art is equally valid just because anybody can form an opinion.
What’s up next in brave culture truths and insights of arts? James Joyce, Virginia Woolf, Erik Satie, Arnold Schönberg, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Mark Rothko, Robert Rauchenberg, Jenny Holtzer, Man Ray, Robert Mapplethorpe, David Hockney are all shit and everybody who thinks otherwise are a simpleton because we are so smart hue hue hue.
A circle jerk of ignorance. Enjoy.

4·8 months agoDamn, my dude. You sure have impressive reading skills to find all of that in “this is shit”.
Not to mention the truly phenomenal, remarkably exceptional, astonishingly outstanding writing skills required to wield, utilize, employ, and make strategic use of a dictionary, thesaurus, lexicon, and vocabulary compendium in order to lend, bestow, confer, and imbue an exaggerated, inflated, and artificially magnified impression, illusion, and semblance of substance, gravitas, and argumentative weight.

I have a pair of AKG 240 of the same age if not a bit older that have seen plenty of other headphones come and go. Not the best headphones in any other categories but damn the most reliable and durable of studio cans ever built.
