I suppose it’s inevitable, but the amount of ridiculous propaganda being posted here by a small by a number of people is making this community both less useful and less pleasant. Bizarre conspiracy theories and hatred are not news.

Welcome to lemmy.ml. Maybe you should stick with instances that credulously post imperial core corporate media schlock.

I generally agree with the content of the article, but the headline destroys its credibility. No one who might possibly have their mind changed is going to go anywhere near it.

I will admit to over-reacting. I’m just sick of watching people with something important to say undermine themselves by adopting the emotionally exploitive rhetoric of the other side.

Not themselves: journalists seldom get to choose the headline. It’s usually left to the copy editor.

I knew that was true of new articles, but did not realize it also happened with opinion pieces like this one. Thank you for the information.

Says the person who came over with the reddit migration and provides no supporting context whatsoever. But sure, whatever you say bud! I guess funding a proxy war which has claimed more than 10,000 Ukrainian lives already is the only way out of the proxy war, ah?

I would argue that is actually Russia that’s killing Ukrainians by, y’know, invading their country and bombing them and such. And that anyone telling the Ukrainians not to fight back is essentially telling them to ‘just lie back and enjoy it’.

Hey, remember back in 2014 when the US ran the Ukrainian Coup and took over the country? This is when the US partnered with the Ukrainian far-right to overthrow a Ukrainian president who was trying to work with Russia and installed their own government? Do think that is maybe the driving force behind the whole situation? Or are you someone who uses selective memory to justify the news they want to believe is true?

Hey, remember in 2014 when Russia illegally annexed Crimea?

“Working with Russia” was never going to work out any better than appeasing Hitler.

Putin has repeatedly and openly signalled his revanchist, imperialist intensions. He’s not even been subtle about it. Stop swallowing Russian propaganda and wake up to the fact that you cannot stop fascism by giving it what it wants.

Sorry, anything other than Russian propaganda is no longer welcome among these idiots. You can’t go around talking about things that actually happened, that makes Daddy Putin sad.
