Actually you and I have a third choice called not voting for either. You are under no obligation to vote for or support a genocide. You can, in fact, spend your efforts opposing it rather than carrying water for its perpetrators.
And I am not sure who told you that you have more leverage after elections rather than before, but they have no idea how leverage works or what building power looks like. I do not have that power and that would also not be effective. Opposition requires organizing and supporting resistance.
