Russia and Iran stirred some shit up in Israel knowing how predictable the global response would be. Suddenly out of ‘nowhere’ Hamas has North Korean weapons and state level intelligence information.

Elon Musk is a pro-Russian muppet.

100% Everything going on right now is to diminish focus and support for Ukraine.

The war has slowed down too. It’s doesn’t need some kind of conspiracy for the media to jump on the next exiting event when the previous one grows stale.

Very possible this is it although I feel like that isn’t too far off the agenda.

No doubt though that Putin is benefiting from the current Gaza situation.

It’s not too much better with independent, publicly funded media, like in parts of Europe.

In Germany (and other parts of Europe), there are systems in place to prohibit dependence of the broadcasters On the government.

The Austrian broadcasting service (ORF) is known to be quite sceptical of the conservative government. The former chancellor of Austria actually wanted to coopt it, like Orban did in Hungary and failed to do so. That’s basically, why he’s the former chancellor.

You can compare it to the European Central Bank, or the FED.

It’s not resistant to nepotism, but it’s way better than the corporate hellscape you see in the US media.

It’s quite telling that in Austria the far right wants to stop financing the ORF altogether by talking about how the population is forced to pay ORF fees and that it has a left wing bias.

I think that’s the same in all European countries, at least it is in Denmark. I guess the old adage is true, the truth has a left wing bias.

The government is forcing the people to pay for the public broadcasting. That’s why they are inherently dependant on the government. Something that’s literally funded by the government can not be independent from the government.

I’m living in Germany actually. Don’t get me wrong, I like the ÖRR as alternative to private media. But to say it’s independent from the government is really naive.

I’m not claiming that it’s completely independent. But there are safeguards preventing direct influence of parliament on the media.

So, yes: it depends on the state, but it’s not (directly) influenced by the executive/legislative/judicative branches of government.

Unfortunately there is no one calling the shots. We’re all just drifting.

Billionaire doing the wrong thing is just a really simple story that journalists know how to write. The rest of the world is a convoluted mess.

I mean, I halfway agree with you. The World Economic Forum meets up annually. It’s a real sanitized name for entrenched wealth, sounds super official, like a neighborhood bus line that fancies itself the “generic county transit authority”. I too can call myself an authority on something but that doesn’t make it so. Lol.

No one attending was voted into power, all but a handful were born into it. There doesn’t need to be any one person in charge when all their motivations already align. Humanity is not inherently hierarchle. So they shmooze, exchange tips, fuck each other wives while wearing masks to hide who they are (you really think Kubrick would’ve made Eyes Wide Shut if he didn’t know that that kind of shit happens irl. Theyl discuss strategies on how to fuck over everyone else on the planet so they’ll never have to sweat a drop from hard work unless they want to. They share Panama paper worthy plans and stories from their trips to whomever replaced Epstein. Cuz someone did. I trust the rich two things only, one is be callously, obscenely greedy as fuck and the other: the world’s largest collection of pedophiles and rapists. When you can buy anything, including people’s children’s innocence, with no consequences, what’s left to buy? Nothing. Nothing but

      Power.

id totally give up a genies wish to make everyone attending their annual event, and their entire poison pill blood line, teleport to the bright side surface of mercury, immediately.

My 2nd wish would be to rapture every Christian to the heliopause.

Humanity would be so much better off, idk if I even need the 3rd wish then

You know, I appreciate Chomsky, but his work is mainly intended to get you reading and thinking more on your own than to give you all the answers. Not everything that happens in the news media is a distraction from something else just because he broke down that one propaganda trick really well. Sometimes, events stay glued to our screens because they really are the main propaganda event of the day, and they really do want you to spend all day and all night thinking about it.

In this case, Israel needs tons and tons of people frothing at the mouth supporting genocide, and Palestinians are needing just as many, if not more, to consider that genocide may be wrong, and they’re playing tug-of-war in the media. That’s all I’m seeing.

Exactly, It’s a commonly cited example from Manufacturing Consent because he broke it down really well there. But everybody who just read Chomsky for the first time then goes out and tries to correlate every single front-page story with the back-page story it’s supposed to be covering up, like they’ve only ever used a single propaganda technique or being predictable wouldn’t undermine the value of the propaganda.

I’ve been following it long enough to know just how much of the worst stuff has come out as complete fabrications.

From what i’ve seen it’s cultural genocide at worst. That’s still bad but it’s nowhere near the hyperbolic lies that have been circulating. Fox news fascists are pushing a conspiracy called “Sinofication” which seems to be the basis of 99.99999% of the Uighur narrative, and because liberals can use it as consent manufacturing for a war with China, they’re eating that shit right up. There’s a lot of bullshit and when you compare what they’re doing to China today to what they did to the Soviet Union, it sure does seem like the whole thing is just completely made up.

EDIT: I think I know the full picture: There are Uighurs which are radicalized fascists, I think what’s happening is that China is deradicalizing them in reeducation camps, and of course the US doesn’t like that so they’re making up a ton of narratives to make that not the case but because nobody gives a shit about minorities in the states, the only people who care are those who are using it to justify their Sinophobia.
