The creation tool also just lets you save the iso - but for some reason the media creation tool gives you a different iso than if you spoofed a non-windows user agent on the windows download website so that it gives you a direct link to the iso instead of getting you to install the creation tool. And for some reason only one of them worked with DISM to repair my system in order to be able to run windows update successfully.
Also add DISM to that - if it’s corrupted it could cause you to be unable to install windows updates.
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
It’s also possible that fixing it may require the original windows installation media matching your windows version build number - which means if you’ve since installed a major windows update there may not be an available installation iso that meets the requirement. Happened to me and I was lucky enough to coax an iso out of the windows installer download page that satisfied the repair tool (oddly enough downloading an iso using the Windows Media creation tool didn’t work, but spoofing Linux on the page to directly download an iso gave me a different iso that worked)
These are the things I do to maintain my last windows machine.
Could even mix the yeast into a bottle of sugar syrup beforehand to give the juice a boost of yeast food. And less suspicious when dumping it.
Somebody should make an api shim that proxies openapi compatible requests to this. And since Microsoft is forcing copilot on windows 10 they’re on the shit list too. Load balance all the AI workloads onto both of them through API adapters.
My gaming PC is sticking with 10 for the foreseeable future, it’s my only windows machine and that’s because it’s a beatsaber and fusion360 machine and I don’t want to be bothered with fixing something when I want to get a workout session in or need to urgently design a part.
P.S. if anyone knows how to get fusion working in wine I’m all ears
You could end up working for a company that develops free software so that’s one way. My company develops an open source science tool and it’s free for anyone to hack on, run their own copy, and use for commercial purposes, but we sell support which usually seems to involve being paid to develop certain features and fix certain bugs, as well as advise on how to keep their system running smoothly.
I’ve even experienced this in the 3D printing community, where I design a highly parametric model and put lots of effort into making all of the major dimensions and qualities parameterized and dynamically adjustable, with lots of bounds checking and value clamping, with all the parameters at the top of my scad file with comments explaining what each variable does.
And then someone comes along to remix my model, says I don’t want to install openscad, and just scales the entire output stl to change the dimensions, squashing all the features of the model in the process (instead of having the size gracefully adjust with all the features moving around to account), and leaving anybody starting from their work with a hard to remix mesh with no parameters.
Lemmy really needs pixelfed’s naive bayes spam detection, it would be able to easily classify the new accounts after classifying one post as spam, then it would be 0 seconds wasted.
I always use VLC so I thought the meme was that it was one of those fake “codec not supported, go to this sketchy website” videos
What do you mean no? Everything I said is true - I’m just describing my firsthand impression. Nowhere did I say transparent aluminum is a type of glass? I was just describing why it feels heavier and colder than you would expect since it looks like glass, of which most are less dense and less thermally conductive compared to transparent aluminum, which is not glass but makes sense to compare to in order to convey what handling a piece feels like.
Transparent aluminum is so weird, a piece of it was once passed around our office. It felt heavier and colder than I expected, which I guess is probably because it’s much denser than most types of glass (I think it’s only comparable to optical glass so it would be close to holding a high quality glass lens) and it looks like the thermal conductivity is way higher.
I once had someone open an issue in my side project repo who asked about a major release bump and whether it meant there were any breaking changes or major changes and I was just like idk I just thought I added enough and felt like bumping the major version ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
