I guess what I meant is that I don’t like upgrades that happen without me explicitly requesting each and every one of them, and me watching the upgrade process as it happens for errors.

No Linux system of mine upgrades itself without my explicit consent. That’s one of the many reasons why I don’t run Windows.

Hand-made slop is still less depressing than AI-generated slop. It’s godawful but it’s made by a person, and that counts for something these days.

As long as sideloading is a thing, I don’t use the Google app store. And I don’t install malware like Instagram - not that it’s very likely to work on my deGoogled Android cellphone.

Of course, now that fucking Google has declared war on deGoogled ROMs, what I’m saying here is pretty much a dead-end. But as of today, it’s still an option.

I use Grayjay on my MNT Laptop (arm64) in Linux through Waydroid. A native client would be better but the solution with Android emulation works a treat. No issues.
