41·6 months agoYes, and…? Did I claim otherwise anywhere? Privacy isn’t a zero sum game. You cant fully protect yourself short of ditching tech and the Internet entirely. And even then, there’s already a digital footprint left behind you’ll never get rid of. But you can make informed choices like not trusting Google or Microsoft to host your personal data, not buying the smart home devices, keeping data local only/host your own cloud, use Linux instead of Windows, etc.

100% agree. I’ve only just started my privacy/self hosted journey almost exactly 1 year ago. Still learning, but I’m loving the experience so far.
It’s absolutely bad when the US does it. I made no claim otherwise. Cheap tech being used as an entry point for data mining the customers, regardless of country the products are sold in is pretty well documented at this point.
That’s quite a leap, isn’t it? When China has demonstrably expressed intent in data mining the world.
Plenty more examples if you look even briefly.

Similar happened to me. I’ve had a Gmail since the beta days and a fairly common name. I get sensitive documents sent to me, random order confirmation, even a flight confirmation that I signed into to try to find his phone number so I could text him. I’ll admit I wanted so badly to cancel his flight. But I didn’t. Texted him and told him he needs to reset his pwd. Just so careless.
I was looking for a journaling app that didn’t have vendor locking, or required some weird export dump that messed your formatting and folders up. That lead me to Markdown and Obsidian. I love it. And when I die, that shit will still be readable by any basic text editor.
Shit, just spend $1200 on a new PC and it’s freeeeeeeee…I’m so poor now…
1·1 year agoThanks. Weirdly now it seems like it’s being throttled. Defaults to 144p video quality when set to auto and struggles on anything higher. My internet is fast, so don’t think it’s that.
ReVanced is doing the thing for me where it lets you get about 10sec into a video and freezes. IIRC, I’ll have to look for an update. I had to use regular YouTube on my phone today and my god, it’s unusable. Absolute trashfire of ads and sponsored videos clogging up my feed.
He sounds exactly like the dude who taught me guitar. He’d balk at any modern (at the time, which was the 90s so Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden, etc) when I’d ask to learn their tracks saying I should only spend time learning the “classics” which to him meant the Beatles, Hendrix, and the like. Not saying those aren’t classics, but I’d consider the grunge era to have a lot of classics as well. Seems like Rick is “stuck” in the same era and unwilling to budge.
