Mexican Border Crisis hysteria in the next year
No, no, no, don’t be silly!
The migrant caravans aren’t scheduled to come until one month before the next midterm. We have at least two years before we hear about that one again.

This image is frighteningly accurate. The IT guy at my current job is top left. The IT guy at my last job was top right. My friend from my discord server who works in IT has said for years that everyone who works in IT is either a neckbeard, a femboy, or a furry. He’s a furry.
Congrats bro! I’m happy for you and also a bit jealous 😁
I like that one. Might use it myself.
Twitch already does this for their livestreams and has been doing it for years. I’m just surprised that YouTube has taken this long to get around to injecting advertisements into the video stream. Although I think if YouTube decided to try ad injection the adblocking community would fire back with something novel to thwart their efforts and the eternal arms race would continue.
That seems to be the case around the world right now. Democratic governments everywhere are facing surging right wing extremist parties with populist demagogues doing frighteningly well in elections. I just don’t see the appeal.

I got accused of this the other day. Some random on Steam added me because he liked my profile pic. I was bored and decided to humor him. Two sentences in and he’s like “What’s with the ChatGPT sounding responses?”.
I honestly didn’t know how to react to that.
When your local chain restaurant/fast food joint starts going off-menu to entice people to come in, you know a business is struggling. Seeing Churros on the menu in a Mexican establishment is perfectly normal. Seeing Churros on the Subway menu is a bit alarming.
I think it’s pretty clear the Subway execs (or the executives of their parent/holding company) foresee a recession and are doing as much profit-taking as possible while there’s still time before the big crash hits and everybody tightens up their budgets.
I’ll change my mind about .webp when Microsoft Teams can recognize it as an image and display it correctly.

No, those are usually embedded into the video itself as a segment by the content creator. However, SponsorBlock works really well and will automatically skip those bits for you (assuming someone else already put in the effort to mark the sponsored content).
I mean, the philosophy behind correcthorsebatterystaple is good. I used that method for master passwords to password managers and it really does work well to help you remember a long complex password that can’t be guessed easily.
But some people might have been missing the point of that xkcd using correcthorsebatterystaple itself.
This flag is called “Thin Blue Line”, which is a pro-police symbol. The origin is from the thought that supposedly the only thing keeping peaceful society insulated from total anarchy is a “thin blue line”, or a small number of law enforcement officers who voluntarily put themselves between the two.
However, as noble as the origin sounds, the flag itself is only a modern artistic creation that can trace it’s actual creation to the counter-protest of the “Black Lives Matter” movement in support of the police (the ones who were the subject of accusations of racial bias and discrimination against blacks in America) and it often interpreted as a racist dogwhistle, supporting acts of police brutality, extrajudicial killings, and authoritarianism in general.
It’s a pretty right-wing affiliated symbol and you see it in conjunction with a lot of other conservative virtue signaling, iconography, and stereotypes.
Too many gold sinks at low level, not enough gold sinks at high level.
This is a Safeway, and those signs are at the ends of the aisle, so no, he didn’t just conveniently crop out more aisle that says dairy. The dairy section is usually open air chillers, not closed refrigeration units like this.
Some Safeway stores are ancient and too small to carry all the product people expect to be able to find these days, so they put stuff in nutty locations like this from time to time.
