Maybe I’m reading into this wrong, but I think the interpretation of fertility statistics may be underestimating/overlooking how much rape and sexual violence contributes to the high fertility rates we’re seeing in impoverished countries struggling with widespread violence.

Countries like the ones in Scandinavia have lower rape statistics and access to abortion which could explain a lot about those numbers and why they are the way they are. Again, it’s a just hypothesis, but one worth mentioning I think.

Walking definitely improves my lower back pain and anxiety, but my right foot is an asshole and likes to swell up and hurt constantly no matter how nice of shoes I wear. Walking makes it worse but I do it anyway for the other benefits.

If private schools are going to exist they should have a minimum curriculum actually enforced so that students attending them aren’t put at a disadvantage.

For example, sex education should be required as part of health and human biology. Not it’s own separate, needlessly controversial thing.

Many private schools are religious and refuse to teach certain topics, or replace them with nonsense and it hurts their students.

But also don’t give them tax money. They rake it with their excessive tuition already.

I just want to add to the conversation and bring forward the fact that health insurance corporations give millions to both parties during election cycles and continuously lobby for a system that allows them to do what they are currently doing.

The people in the government aren’t just writing laws that allow health insurance companies to do whatever they want for shits and giggles. They’re convinced. Either by pressure campaigns done by their lobbyists or they just straight up use bribes. It’s seriously fucked up, and when I think corruption can’t get worse I learn something new and find out it already is far worse than I ever imagined.

I worked at dunkin while I was in college and it didn’t matter how often you took the trash out during the summertime, it was constantly overflowing from people cleaning out their cars into it.

Not even kidding, one day I was on break outside and watched someone fill the freshly emptied can 3/4 full with all their fast food trash. As soon as the trashcan is empty people take the opportunity to clean out their cars. It’s fucking weird.

I think your perspective is fair, and it’s likely this is akin to a high school faculty dealing with some random word or idea becoming a meme of sorts and causing problems. So they have to write some new rule that sounds ridiculous or weird.
