Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Ordinary americans are facing huge electricity bills because of AI Data centers owned by Amazon, Google, FacebookEnglish
3·1 month agoI’m open to alternative thoughts here but I legitimately feel your emotion may be clouding your writing, because I’m honestly trying, but while I think I get the direction you are trying to take the conversation it’s not entirely coherent to me. For as much as you wrote it feels like a few incomplete thoughts strung together.

25·1 month agoA lot of the uptick is probably at least “blamed” on the need for infrastructure upgrades. These “benefit everyone” even though they are caused by basically one client, so the price increase to cover the upgrades is applied to everyone.

It annoys me that there is a 2 item jump from lvl 1-2 and nowhere else.
They need to make it actively harder then because most devs with a site seem to just link direct to the release page. IMO, if that’s the thought process then either make it intuitive or commit and lock it down to contributors or something.

160·4 months agoFake in that it’s almost assuredly written and posted by someone who is actively anti-vibe coding and this is a troll on the true believers.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Los Angeles families took safety into their own hands by painting cross walks. Now, the city is sending crews to remove them. English
9·5 months agoIt’s probably incremental but, IMO, a crosswalk does imply a certain amount of pedestrian traffic that might encourage a smidge of extra attention and double checking from some drivers, vs a location that gives the appearance of having very infrequent pedestrian crossingsmay be far less frequent. That not to say that complacency is any kind of excuse. But it is how people are on average.

Hot take among what often seems to be an “AI is the devil!” crowd.
Feels like this implies that software is broadly maintained by its general user base when that’s simply not how it is outside of really niche projects. Most FOSS software is maintained by a dedicated few who are but a tiny fraction of the user base and are far from being your “average user”.
CachyOS here for the moment.

- Lots of toxicity and bad takes.
- It isn’t literally the entire instance.
Google has no room to talk here with Android.
“Book It” had nothing to do with Grades, just raw effort. In my area at least, but I thought it was pretty universal in its execution.

20·1 year agoMay have mixed feelings about the “timeless” bit, depending deeply on how it’s meant. Do I think you’ll find a buyer at any given time in the foreseeable future? Probably, yes. But I would have very mixed feelings about having that in my house. (Space consumption, cool on its own to some degree but clashing with basically everything else and cherubs are not my jam, maybe a status symbol since it isn’t the norm.)

Eh don’t love it but “first 24 months” implies ‘news accounts’ to me.
