It showed up for me about a month ago. I put up with it for about a week and then broke down and finally switched all my browser search engines to duckduckgo.
The funny thing is, I tried making this same switch a couple years ago. I legitimately had a harder time getting the results I needed and ended up switching back to Google.
Google is worse than useless to me now.
I had no clue about this. Thanks for the heads up. Not sure which one I installed but it’s on my test machine and I can check tomorrow
I just installed gimpshop the other day on a whim and immediately I could work at 90% capacity just based 20+ years of Photoshop muscle memory. Gimp never lasted more than a day with me the dozen or so times I’ve tried it before.
There are ways to make it work, and the tooling out there is getting better every day.
One is trying to tangle a ball of yarn into.a mess and the other is attempting to untangle it and knit a cardigan.
Building on this metaphor, one of my single biggest frustrations with the left is how many of them won’t accept anything short of a fully knit cardigan; unless they get exactly what they want, they’d rather just hand it over to the tanglers.
It’s always seemed so wholesome to me how the trans folks are such a huge part of what makes that sub awesome but also it’s not a “trans sub”, so you get all these people there for the memes also experiencing fully normalized transness
That’s the problem though. His core supporters define themselves by who they oppose, so anything negative said about him is seen as an attack and becomes fuel for the hate machine
Except if you have a pretty good life and don’t want to mess up the timeline that led you there.
It was all downhill from there for me too
People defend what’s familiar, even if it’s shit

I can’t believe I had to scroll this far to find it this explanation.
My first thought was “wait did discord saying something bad about FOSS lately?” No, nothing unusual. Must be missing something.
Turns out some people see Discord as a sort of mascot for closed source, and that is what the joke hinged on.
Edit:
Actually it’s worse than that, isn’t it? They’re seeing the coexistence of closed source as being antithetical to open source.
Good luck with that I guess.
