The way I do it is I use both computers with linux on them. If I need to flash something that requires winblows. That is when I boot to it.

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•why hard exit editor? Nano say at bottom.English
1864·10 days agoThe image is misleading. The brain sizes represent the amount of grey matter it takes to operate the editor. The nano guy has plenty of brain power left over for things like hygiene, breathing and basic reasoning.
I do every year or so if I have to.
I haven’t had this problem. I use two hard drives and when I boot windows I boot it off the drive its installed to.

memes@lemmy.world•Some programs really teach you to save regularlyEnglish
6·1 month agoI really only use it from time to time. I have used the color selection tool many times and I can’t recall it ever crashing on saving. I suppose if I used it daily that experience would change a bit.

172·1 month agoWith gimp? What are you doing? I can’t remember it ever crashing.
I vaguely remember this and we laughed about it. It was like the wild west on the net.
I remember all the exploits that were used for nothing more than pranking. Today they would be used to take peoples money Tierdrop and winnuke and all kinds of packets of death you could use to knock someone off the net or just reboot them.
IRC was the chat of the day and I once cleared the opper and admin channel on I think it was Undernet with an exploit and filled it with eggdrop bots named the same as some of the oppers. It may have been another network I was a opper on. Newnet maybe? Not long after that channel services were fully implemented and that became a lot harder to do.
Edit: Oh, I noticed the 2008 date for your link. I’m pretty sure they were not the first to try that.
I miss those days. It was a lot of fun in some ways. One company rolled out their own listserv and told everyone it was fool proof. I signed it up to itself and it crashed when the hard drive got full. They had the messages in plaintext with nested sub directories. It locked that file system up better than a fork bomb. I guess in a way it was a fork bomb.
What if I get someone’s email by mistake? How do I deliver it to them?
Will I get a huge bill from the post office for not attaching a stamp? This lady thought she was going to go to jail.
What if I need to send a notarized email?
These are remembered because the people were quite distressed and not really well balanced.
I remember answering the stupidest questions about it.

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•What a joke, can't believe people still voluntarily use this OSEnglish
13·2 months agoI maintain over a hundred windows 11 machines. I recently push new software that I had to manually configure on each machine. While doing this I checked for problems. Over half had terminal and other programs like notepad installed separately. All the machines are in a domain environment but windows 11 ignores many of the GPO’s I have in place. Its pathetic and just a reason to have to do more work. So I have no problem believing that terminal had been installed and then disabled due to some microsoft account nonsense.

ROFLMAO!
Have a sysadmin with thirty plus years of experience. Leave the game and desktop shortcuts but black list the executable.
I was thinking more kill -9

Whats that penguin doing there? We need a broken window there instead.
