When you work shifts (7/7 24h) weekends are whenever you are off duty and Friday can be on Tuesday.

I think the prices are more or less the same today.

But we don’t go to Starbucks or fast food often, the coffee culture is the same as France and Italy so not Starbucks. And fast food is often the hangover food so not something you do every week.

Since Covid and inflation worldwide, some prices are actually cheaper in Switzerland. With a Swiss income it is a very perfect country to live in (not with a basic low 4000 chf/month tho, at least not in cities)

We (French speaking peoples) have several instances, the one I’m writing from is probably the most active on lemmy, the others are on piefed.

I’d say if you see a lot of them it’s probably because of your language settings or because of those German instance settings.

Tipiak is a kinda slang way of saying pirate. It comes from an old tv ad from a food company named Tipiak. 3 old grandma screamed “pirate !” after discovering that the food tastes the same as their own secret family recipe (supposedly). It became sort of a meme and is used to say pirate. As the French language is not difficult enough for our English neighbours, we started to conjugate the word: Ce soir je vais tipiaker ce film (tonight I’m going to pirate (download) that film).

The same word is used in the answer from @obercail@jlai.lu with even a new variant: Tipiakeries (pirate thingy)

I was telling that American supermarket and plastics were not the same sentence and not at all a “murica bad” stereotype that you thought I was getting at. Believe it or not, I have zero interest in trashing the US or its people that I know are a majority of good intelligent peaceful people, I just don’t care and carry on.

Root beer also turned out to be a disappointment.

First time I went to the US at around 16 I found a vending machine with Root Beer. I thought that I found a way to rig the system and buy beer at 16 (like we do in Europe).
