  • I was talking about this with a friend. The younger generations got screwed over because we have to evaluate what we value more, and give up one over the other to achieve one of the life goals. I managed to save for a house; but only because I lived with my parents for many years before moving out. I don’t have a car and I haven’t gone on foreign holidays in years. Meanwhile, my friend has travelled in so many countries but he doesn’t have enough savings for a house. The boomer generation has been able to afford to live their life to the fullest with just a single household income, and didn’t have to give up any or all of their life goals, values and desires.

  • School starts at home (for many parents, this is an unbelievable idea). I had a classmate who is an anti-vaxxer, even though we did biology together and learned how vaccines worked. My classmate is alright as a person, but I think her environment outside of school made her not one of the sharpest tool in the class and never paid attention to the lessons. My point is that, if the home environment is not conducive to learning, the person is less likely to be intellectually driven. I know there are exceptions and it boils down to “nature versus nurture”, but as mentioned already, an environment that does not foster learning makes the person less likely to pursue knowledge.

  • I pat the people on the back for calling him out all those years ago. I have always been indifferent to him to be honest, until five years ago he tried to interfere in the rescue of Thai school children who got stuck in underwater cave, and calling the rescue divers pedo. Some time after that, I remember telling my ex-colleague of mine who fanboys Elon that it is not necessarily I don’t like Elon, but that I don’t trust him after the incident. He got offended after I mentioned I distrust Elon, and I was surprised that he hasn’t heard of Elon’s childish spat with the rescue divers. Fast forward to now, I wonder what my former colleague thinks of Elon now.

  • I guess poker is somewhat more predictable compared to other gambling but I am not too familiar with it. But in racing and dice games, plenty of games are rigged or that there simply isn’t chance of winning in many, if not most, bets. I remember doing statistics and probability in school, and one of the correct answers was like zero or close to zero chance. I asked my teacher if that means literally zero chance of winning. She mentioned that that is indeed the case but most gamblers don’t realise this.

  • If you do the math, there is literally 0% chance of winning in most gambling. Especially because of the fact plenty of them are rigged.

Arguably the safer bet if one wants to gamble is stock investing, but only after doing due research and willing to be patient to see its results. For those willing to do CFD stock trading, the person would require not just research and patience, but also nerves of steel not to panic.

But I think that most addicted gamblers don’t like the win, they just want the dopamine hit of playing.

  • There is a Saudi tribe that celebrate a flower festival with men wearing chained flowers over their heads.

High heel shoes originated in India as worn by horsemen to hold themselves during horse rides. The shoes then became fashionable amongst European nobility including men. Eventually, high heels became almost exclusively a feminine fashion for some reason.

A lot of gender stereotypes are really social constructs. As a multicultural man, if I am asked what does it mean to be a man, I don’t really have an answer. If one travels the globe with an open mind, they will find that a lot of their preconceptions growing up will be challenged.
