If you’re not into using the terminal, I’m going to suggest looking into one of the immutable distros (Bazzite if you’re heavily into gaming, Aurora/Bluefin if you’re more generic Windows/Mac respectively).
All the important things that make the computer run, you can’t (easily) change. All the stuff you care about, you can. As long as you reboot it from time to time, it’ll always be up to date. It’s meant for people who just want to use their computer and not tinker too much with it.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Don't like the 'left liberal bias' of cited and sourced Wikipedia articles? Not a problem, our lord and savior Elon is introducing Grokipedia.English

6·3 months agoCan’t comment on the license, but I switched to it from NextCloud a few months ago and I’ve been generally very happy with it for where it is in the development process. It’s not perfect yet, but it’s also still earlyish.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•how did you make the switch from reddit to lemmy.. i'm trying to myself but struggling to nglEnglish
91·4 months agoIn the Lemmy word, sure. I was referring to Mastodon where there is no hot or rising. It’s just based off of who you’re following and when you check. Hence likes doing nothing but informing the poster of your appreciation.

41·4 months agoYour edit is a bit like that in the Fediverse in general. Since there’s no algorithm, liking a post in Mastodon does nothing beyond letting op know you appreciate them. I like that.

I know others have answered, but I wanted to give you a link. I have their device and it works great for turning things off and on out of the box. You can run it locally—if you have the hardware—or use their reasonably priced cloud subscription. I do the latter wanting to support them monetarily.
