I don’t speak elisp, but I speak regexp. Looks like the LLM speaks neither.

The first thing to be flushed down that drain would be the plumber.
Indeed. There still are films with good CGI, but don’t expect Disney to spend real money on a movie aimed at kids to get at their pocket money (or their parents sparetime activities budget). The kids won’t know the difference.
Even our C++ guys won’t touch my C code with all the pointer tricks and unions used for hidden castings. Whimps!
But python has worse problems than lacking pointer. Have you ever copied a piece of code from an external source into a python source? It really can f-ck up everything if one has tabs and the other has spaces.
Someone who does not know about “permanent delete” and not having backups, especially when switching to a new system, should have no business complaining about this.
claiming they have a moral obligation to help rebuild the country based on the Doha Agreement.
IIRC the Doha Agreement was with the Afghanistan government, not with the Taliban who overthrew them.
Been there, seen that, had to deal with it. Now add the problem that there are people who don’t know their birth date or not even the f-ing year they were born in. And I’m not talking about someone from a lost tribe at the Amazonas.
Same shit with American custom forms. On the one hand, they threaten you with Armageddon if you fill out the form incorrectly, on the other hand, they only allow plain letters, numbers, and a handful of special characters. Nobody there has the capacity of the mind that maybe a name cannot be correctly represented with that tiny subset of characters. So it is simply impossible to fill out that form without breaking the law. And it is a customs form, so they should know that people filling it out are most likely foreigners.
When AIs dream, what do they dream about?
Only in backwater countries that still use those antique washing lines that break with every instance of bad weather.
Ever had spaghetti ice cream with strawberry sauce and grazed white chocolate as “parmesan”
Hacking. Each and every time it is part of a movie or TV series.
Let’s put it this way: You can produce unreadable code in basically any language. With Perl, it is just a bit easier.
And of course if you have the discipline of a good programmer, even your casual Perl programs should be readable. That’s what differenciates a good programmer from a hacker.
I have to admit that using CL-PPCRE does not really help me understanding the regexp any better. But this may be because I deal with complex regexps for decades now, and I just read them.
Normal for a soft- or hardware project designed by a political committee.
I wonder how much of that actually is development and not just the gazillionth instance of some web site builders scripts.
Thanks! Now I know what that meme is about.
At least those were a) just banner ads and b) not as annoying as modern JS/HTML5/popup/popover ads are. You just scrolled down a few pixel, and had 100% information.
Most programmers (those doing fancy GUIs and C# programming on a PC) would be seriously out of their league if they ever actually tried to program such a thermostat. Or any other embedded system. You really need a special skillset and hardware knowledge to even get a simple embedded system running. This is what my trainee just learned the hard way in the last weeks…
