I think because of the material position of the meat producers and the economy/state protectionism, lab grown meat would become a culture war issue in the global north (“I’m not eating the bugs” etc).

And the political capital necessary to make people eat “lab grown” meat instead of “natural meat” would probably be so extreme, like land reform and an actual cultural revolution, that at point why not just reduce the amount of meat consumed through plant based alternatives and non meat or reduced meat diets.

Israel murdered a 63 year old Palestinian man who actually converted to Judaism (in honour of his grandfather who saved Jews from a massacre in the 20s). They wouldn’t let him become a citizen and tried to actively stop his conversion.

I sometimes think about how Israel’s evil even oversteps sensible propaganda. Like this guy could have been a slam dunk “good one” to pretend they weren’t discriminating against “good” Palestinians.

They’re like small minority of Christian proto anarchists (no priests no churches, occaisonal communes/intentional communities) who are extreme pacifists, but understand how imperialism, social murder and slavery is violence, constantly acting against it by non violent but radical means.

A bunch fled the UK to the USA to avoid religious persecution and them immediately got started to get themselves lynched for helping slaves escape and working with first Nations people.

That said Richard Nixon’s parents were Quakers and he was ostensibly one at some point, but he sort of drifted out of it in college before ever getting disowned (quaker excommunication). But he kept the ascetic aesthetic (Quakers don’t drink or smoke, wear fancy clothes etc)

I get what you mean but Quakers have been persecuted for pretty much always being on right side of history their whole existence.
