It’s not nothing but compare the amount of radioactivity released in all nuclear accidents against the amount of pollution, including radioactive particles, released by burning fossil fuels. The scale is so heavily skewed that the amount of harm caused by nuclear might as well be zero compared to the alternative.

Some people don’t want to be locked down to one place for long. When I was in my twenties I moved to a different town every year when my lease was up just to see if I would like it better somewhere else. Or I’d get a raise and be able to afford a better place the next year. For people that want relatively short term housing, renting is a far superior option.

If I took out a mortgage on a place and then sold it a year later, I’d have almost no equity since you pay almost all interest in the front part of the loan.

This is only my personal experience but…

I’ve never had a package stolen. Even when I lived in a sketchy apartment years ago. If it’s a high value item I either have it delivered to me at my work (this is a privileged position to have, I know) or get it delivered at an Amazon locker a mile or two down the road.

Would it be a pain in my ass if I lived in a high crime area, worked somewhere that didn’t accept my deliveries, and relied on public transport? Absolutely. But I’m guessing that’s not who the majority of Amazon’s customer base is.
