So does that mean this UN mission has failed then? A quick look suggests they are supposed to be keeping Hezbollah out of the picture and Israeli forces out of Lebanon. All of it wasted, there are over 10000 UN personnel there. Since they first went there in 1978 it seems they’ve been as much use as a sock on a fish.

The article says the strategic plan is updated every 4 years or so. So nothing special here. They would be foolish NOT to plan for China and North Korea to be a part of the picture. I wouldn’t mind betting Iran, Pakistan and India are mentioned somewhere as well.

Whilst I understand that, you could argue that that is exactly why both sides need to sit down and talk.

This cannot go on for ever, at some point both sides have to accept violence will never be the answer. What’s happened (terrible as it is) has happened and we can never go back in time to change it.

The only way violence will work is the total eradication of one side or the other. That can never be the right path to go down.

We can all sit here online and say we’ll never talk to terrorists, Margaret Thatcher made a great public speech with that line yet it turns out our government had channels open all the time.

I have no answer as whoever tries to step in usually has their own interests at heart.

UN maybe? Then again others will vote against whoever their current ‘enemy’ is purely because they can. For instance Russia will never back anything put forward by the US, and vice versa.

Both sides or just one? Because if only one side stops that’s called a surrender. And neither of them will accept that.

They both need to stop shooting each other and start talking instead.

We gave away for more than that on covid scams. That we will never recover. Collect the correct amount of tax from a few companies/individuals and we could build 10 of these.

Israel has not been a shining example of virtue over the years. I’m not excusing the disgusting actions by the other side, where they are proved true, as some of the pictures have already been discounted, but this would only make Israel come down harder.

I don’t the have an answer, but what ever us happening now is certainly not it.
