It was actually very low effort! There are a number of image to STL converters. I used this one: https://imagetostl.com/
Like you can see it’ll flub some stuff. I would have been better off filling in the areas of text and doing the emboss manually myself, but I just wanted to hit print. 2% infill, I think it was like 2.5g of filament and 20mins.
It’s fun to screw around with that process. I’m tweaking one of my friends cabin to use to make a mold. My goal is cast concrete or something similar so I can pound some thin copper around it, and be left with a cool wall decoration.

yeah, like I always liked the Pi as essentially an arduino and easier way to spit stuff out to a screen, and native wifi. As they evolved some of the micro-pc stuff was cool for hosting a few services, but why do they keep pushing into the mini-pc sphere.
I guess I get that this is an expansion of the Pi-5, and that does kind of make sense for those who want it, but it seems like they’re going to lose the plot in one of these generations soon.
You can be pretty technical/capable and still write that article (especially if you have technical expertise outside programming). I have never felt so seen.
I worked my way up from arduino -> RasPi -> Debian -> Self hosting quite a few things. I’m very much a hobbyist/novice, but I’m used to learning. It is so hard to read some documentation and understand what something even does sometimes. This goes double for incredibly useful tools for monitoring/implementing other tools. Like I swear I read the kubernetes descriptions 30x before I realized what in the hell it actually does, and now I’m probably about to break my entire home network with it because I think it’s cool as hell.
Also, to your comment specifically: I can get sensors on PCBs I personally made collecting data, throwing it through my own MQTT broker, hosting a dashboard etc, all at a remote site across state lines. I have no idea wtf markdown is. I use yaml for HA stuff with the ESPs, but I don’t know why markdown is a thing and it’s not just python.
And I am 1000% sure there is a very good reason for 98% of this. But yes I found this article hilarious. In my personal circle of hell all nouns end in “-ly”.

I tried to get a photo in front of the gate with a donught. Apparently it’s just not a very popular pastry in Germany, or at least it wasn’t at the time (not suprised given what I ate there… Don’t know why you’d settle). IIRC even the dunkins nearby didn’t have one.
Insurance companies jacking up premiums and/or pulling out of areas is like the only proper feedback loop for adapting to climate change left. Not saying I’m happy about it. I would not be totally shocked if health insurance starts having carve outs for heat related illnesses and their complications. Typing it out, I guess what’s more likely is raising premiums in areas with hospitals that serve a patient base in a high risk area.

Dude, they flubbed this so damn hard by over reaching. A few years ago, when they mentioned there would be a button in word that you could use to make a slide deck of your word dock, I was so excited. The teams meeting part where it will summarize meetings is honestly fantastic in doing Roberts rules of order type stuff. My response was “I hate what this means in terms of privacy, but godamn that sounds useful”.
In turning into an everything all or nothing they massively screwed up. I have a self hosted instance of llama-gpt that I use to solve the “blank page” problem that AI was actually great at.
I have a lot of issues with AI on principle, like a lot of folks. But it blows my mind how hard they screwed up delivery (and I don’t just mean the startups, that’s to be expected). There’s plenty to be said about uber at a principle level, but it’s still bloody convenient. The entire roll out of a AI-ecosystem reeks of this meme: “but we made plans!”.
So, ditto. Something is different about the pre packaged “tajin”.
