Opensource@programming.dev•We should push other phone OEM's such as Fairphone and Samsung to work with PostmarketOS, GrapheneOS, and Ubuntu TouchEnglish
19·3 months agoGrapheneOS is nice as it is now, but could they keep up if Google at some point decides to fully pull the rug from its Open Source version? The past few months worry me about the direction that Android is taking and GrapheneOS has quite a dependency on that.

PC Master Race@lemmy.world•PC gamers buy way more games that cost less than $30 at launch compared to PlayStation and Xbox players, analysts say, and it's "reshaping the PC market"English
211·3 months agoI never buy games at the original price. I always wait for a discount.
Fuck, that’s a good meme.
All dungeon masters 0%?
My elderly parents are getting a continuous amount of scam calls now practically every day for I don’t know how long. All because they one time actually took a call and talked a while with the scammer. I am not at their home a lot, but last time blocked numbers on their handset landline phone. It seems the scammer noticed and switched numbers as they do.
Point is, this has been going on for weeks or months. 24h are nothing in waiting time for a scammer. It just forces them to do yet another call a bit later.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Want to sync files from Linux PC to Android phoneEnglish
3·3 months agoBe careful when you set it up. Make sure to enable file system access before you start syncing. I think it got fixed in the release a few days ago, but before that BasicSync thought without file system access that you had an empty folder and deleted all files on the remote directory. Happened to me.
Other than that it works as expected, quite happy with it.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Want to sync files from Linux PC to Android phoneEnglish
13·3 months agoI am assuming this is referring to the recent drama around syncthing-fork, which made a lot of people question its safety.
But in the meantime another app called BasicSync jumped into that gap.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What Lemmy Client are you Android users using in 2026?English
10·4 months agoI really enjoyed using Thunder but then found Summit, which offers one killer feature Thunder doesn’t have while covering everything that Thunder has:
Multi-communities!
I got several gaming-related communities grouped, all the selfhosting communities grouped and I just need to check those multi-communities instead of each community one by one.
Also Summit works a bit better for Piefed than Thunder, but I know that is work in progress, so no criticism there.
Oh, she’s from Canada, you wouldn’t know her.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's a gadget or appliance that you purchased that you would wholeheartedly recommend to others?English
1·4 months agoUntitled Goose Game is definitely a blast. Pizza Possum is just crazy fun. Moving out is also great.
We just started playing KeyWe, seems short but so far pretty fun too.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's a gadget or appliance that you purchased that you would wholeheartedly recommend to others?English
45·4 months agoHonestly, my favorite purchase of the past years is the Steamdeck. Can take it to work, play in my lunch break. Can take it on trips, play in the plane or train. Also got a dock at home, where I play coop games with my kid. So I guess if you are a gamer not playing any not supported games (there aren’t that many), go for it.

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•virgin HDMI vs chad VGAEnglish
111·5 months agoIs it a fair comparison when VGA plugs came with screws pretty much by default? I think I have seen HDMI cables like that too, but if so then it is a much rarer find.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Legends ZA on Ryunjinx/DLC questionEnglish
3·5 months agoI don’t know this game but have been emulating Mario Kart 8 Deluxe via Ryujinx on my Steam Deck for quite some time now, including all available DLCs and updates.
There’s a menu somewhere where you point Ryujinx to the folder that contains the DLC, it should immediately recgonize them. Easy to spot if it is an update because it will change the version number in your list of available games.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why are there so many Germans on Lemmy?English
1·5 months agoWhat do you mean, Germans are “online more than americans”?

Ragebait headline.
And I am a Jellyfin user, who never used Plex so I don’t care about the comparison much.
