Well, if we go for economic contraction, shrinking population, automation and even wealth distribution, then the landlord will need to find other work.

My first guess is; they want me to give up and hope I just pick the most expensive option. My second guess is; they themselves think it’s all obvious and looks straight forward. They don’t think it’s necessary to test their sales pages on actual consumers.
It’s a frustrating experience and I think it drives consumers away.

Ah yes, the klingon keyboard. Goes on the armrests of the captains chair.
I have several dvd drives. Pretty sure none of them works. They have been sitting unused too long. At least one has a permanently deformed rubber band, that drives the spinny thing. They dry out with time and sitting still.
I prefer solid state stuff.
Most people would rather go to the store and get a new computer, than go to a webpage and download an iso. They can figure it out. They are just lazy and have little motivation to try it. They also want what they already know, with as little change as possible.
Why does your dad have an opinion on what your sister use?

You copy some text from a webpage and put it in your email or word processor, it copies the formating too and everything looks wonky. If you paste the clipboard content in a text editor, like notepad and copy the text from there, you strip the formating.
That is what the post is refering to.
boreengreen@lemm.eeto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•"You should probably just throw it away"English2·4 months agoEveryone should try it out by all means. I’d like everyone to use linux. All I’m conveying is my own experience. If you have an ancient GPU, and things are seemingly running fine on windows, you might yet find that it does not run fine on linux. I guess I should have emphasised that I am refering to hardware from a decade ago.
boreengreen@lemm.eeto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•"You should probably just throw it away"English7·4 months agoIf yoy have a fairly recent gpu, windows games run fine on linux. The exception is games with agressive anti-cheat.

Depending on how old and what graphics card you have.
I heard blender runs significantly better on linux.
boreengreen@lemm.eeto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Amazing, every word of what you just said was wrong125·5 months agoWhere we run in to issues like is: user has gnome installed and wants to turn on file sharing, goes to the menu and serches for it, flips webdav on. Then they can’t figure out that you need to install some packages for it to work, they get frustrated and gives up. Then they decide they need to connect their bluetooth headphones. They flip the bluetooth button. The button just springs back off. They have no idea they need to enable a background service for it to function. These are the type of issues the normal user gets mad at. Things they expect to work, but requires their tech support friend to help them.

boreengreen@lemm.eeto Lord of the memes@midwest.social•Lord of the Rings, but Frodo Can't Stop Losing the RingEnglish5·5 months agoTaking the ring on one of those boats, leaving middle earth; would that not bee a solution to denying Sauron access to it? If you leave, there is no getting back. If Sauron leaves in pursuit of the ring, he would have to face the other gods and won’t be able to return to middle earth. I might have misunderstood something though.
I have one PC on gnome and another on kde. I like them both for what they are. I lean towards gnome though. Looks nice, feels nice. I don’t find myself needing more functionality than what is there. I tried mimicing gnome in kde, for fun. Didn’t quite get there. I appreciate simplicity where possible.
