  • Sorry dude, you’re on lemmy. Nobody is here because it’s the easiest or best. Most of us are here because we’re the types who don’t like getting fucked over. I wholeheartedly agree that ads in and of themselves are annoying and fucking detest those Quiznos commercials but we’re the “weird” ones here. Most people loved those ads and Quiznos sold a ton of crappy sandwiches. Sadly advertising works on most people.

I feel this. I was in college when Skyrim came out and my gaming PC was in the living room next to the TV so my buddy would play Skyrim from the couch and I’d be on my PC. The 360 version crashed more and took like a solid minute to load any new map. If you entered the wrong building, 2 minutes gone and a small chance of a crash that would take like five minutes to reboot.

As a child of the eighties, it feels like post PS3 things totally stagnated but this is a couple of factors working together to create the illusion that there’s been no progress. First off we went from everything being 2d to everything being 3d in the course of a single console generation. There used to be huge and noticeable upgrades because models were getting so much more detail with every generation. There’s also the diminishing returns they’re getting on graphical enhancements; the leaps forward require massively more powerful hardware to render and most of the enhancement is in details and effects which aren’t as noticeable as doubling the polygon count of your models.

IDK where you went, but saying the west coast is all chain food is absolutely bizarre to me.

A quick search shows a PBS article where researchers found the southern US and Republican states as a whole have a higher % of chain restaurants, as opposed to more left leaning states where people tend to be more concerned with what they’re eating.
