Complex social hierarchy is a super important aspect to account for too. In the proprietary software realm, you infer confidence in the accumulated wealth hierarchy. In FOSS the hierarchy is not wealth, but reputation like in academia or the film industry. If some company in Oman makes some really great proprietary app, are you going to build your European startup over top of it? Likewise, if in FOSS someone with no reputation makes some killer app, the first question to ask is whether this is going to anchor or support a stellar reputation. Maybe they are just showing off skills to land a job. If that is the case, they are just like startups that are only looking to get bought up quickly by some bigger fish. We are all conditioned to think in terms of horded wealth as the only form of hierarchy, but that is primitive. If all the wealth was gone, humans are still fundamentally complex social animals, and will always establish a complex hierarchy. This is one of the spaces where it is different.

5·5 months agoYour slice of life is funny. At least you don’t get: …(news: “terrible shit is happening”) …the bible says…the sky is falling…the end times…Armageddon… Come back to (sadistic masochism where everyone goes through the motions and no one is intelligent or real or cares about anyone as evidenced by their actions) kingdom hall. (be like the rest of us that never paid any attention to the conspiracy level nonsensical explanation of the reason why Jehovah’s Witnesses exist in the Revelations book.)
I don’t know, it might be fun to improvise against some fresh hate materials. The same thing all the time gets old but polished responses.

Always share and let them decide. If you’re genuine, and care, show it. Your intentions may not always land, but it still creates positive value. To love or hate is to care. Indifference is the opposite of both love and hate. To make no comment is therefore always the worst. If you feel strange about what you posted, that is an opportunity for personal growth. Caring matters most. So post it!

Gptel is better than ellama. Ollama only runs small junk. Llama.cpp is way better because it will split CPU and GPU and run bigger quantized models, especially large MoEs on a 16 GB GPU.

Some people share stuff they find. I like those people too. Everyone does not need to be an arch linux gimp lord to participate on the interwebs
I find this deeply disturbing and wish I had not seen it. Not sure why exactly in terms of underlying ethics but there is a sharp reason somewhere in there that tingles at my intuition.

Nah. Windows is stalkerware digital slavery of the soul. It comes back with shackles. The future will make this far more clearly the case.

5·9 months agoThis is anyone running a business and a limited juxtaposition. It does not mean he always slaves away at a job. It means he must always be available and always conscious and aware of the business. Anyone that has actually run a successful business with employees has experienced this. You’re not your own boss, you’re a slave of your customers with responsibilities, decisions, and must live with the consequences of making mistakes. It really sucks unless you’re super lucky in the world, and a really shitty person if you want to make it profitable by hurting people and being unethical.
