Sebastian Siemiatkowski, worth $3B.

This article is him bragging btw, he loves to talk about how he replaced 700 employees with AI.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=m3niSE-8ZvE
He’s also personally involved in union busting in Sweden.

He also wrote on Musk’s social media today that he wants to tear up money laundering regulations on his loan shark company:

I really don’t fucking feel bad for him.
Very cool! Fun fact, this is basically a simplified version of bitcoin mining.
In order to mine a reward of 3 bitcoin, you just need to find a sha-256 hash that is lower than 2.7×10⁶⁷
https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/85896/mining-difficulty-and-leading-zeros
The world currently calculates around 780 bitcoin exahashes/s, so one of these $300k hashes is found about every 10 minutes on average.

Sweden is genuinely more capitalist than the US
We created this money to give to you, and you have to pay it back plus a 5-20% fee.
We’re also betting on whether you will pay it back or not, and other people are betting on whether our bet will win.
If we lose too many bets, or too many people bet against our bets, then the money we just gave you disappears, the economy crashes, and you get kicked out of your house.
Fractional reserve banking and the modern securities market is a trip. Kafka was on to something.
Just make sure your switches are heated. In the arctic, they build little houses around their switches to keep it from getting completely snowed up

Here’s some pictures of their snow sweepers too
I’m just pointing out the nuance. Broad brush doesn’t help anyone. If you automatically assume everyone from lemmy.ml is a tankie, even though it’s one of the largest instances, and the original Lemmy instance, then you’re doing yourself and all the more moderate users on lemmy.ml a disservice.
I’m very much not minimizing the shittiness of worldnews@lemmy.ml.
Yeah, that’s what I mean, the admins aren’t forcing their ideas on people, it’s just the mods.
Ah ok, fair enough. I’ve only had problems with the world news mods so far, but makes sense that some of the other mods can be bad too.
This only happens on worldnews@lemmy.ml
Mostly militant tankie mods in worldnews@lemmy.ml. The rest of the instance is fine actually; Their admins aren’t as zealous.
Basically how building new houses in suburbia works. Every new house is subsidized by the local government in the hopes that they’ll pay back enough taxes in the next 50 years before the pipes have to be replaced again.
Pretty useful article! I’m pretty sure I’ve seen data shifting happen a few times on Jerboa.
I wonder if uuid7 based pagination solves these issues. Precise enough that you don’t overlap/over fetch data with time based pagination, while still being essentially time based so you have a consistent offset. Definitely important to limit the size if requests, though.
Which algorithms have they endorsed? Did they make any changes to them?
