Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How can I wear a skirt at work if I'm not religious?
11·22 days agoWork from home or check the company’s dress code before applying. But as most have said: if your presented gender matches the “expected” one for wearing skirts, you’ll never face problems doing so, unless you want to work at a factory or something.

Programming@programming.dev•Should I teach students who doesn't know computer science C or JavaScript first?
6·25 days agoThe fact that every computer has a browser where they can practice javascript probably makes it the better option. Python would probably require, on Windows, some setup that isn’t what you want to spend time on, and may be a barrier to them trying stuff on their own time at home.
Bitcoin’s only legitimate use cases are a worse, slower and more expensive eletronic money transfer. In other words, there aren’t any.

World News@lemmy.ml•British aircraft carrier will not be sent to Middle East, say officials
2·1 month agoI was referring to the Prince of Wales. It suffered from a lot of technical problems and lack of escorts, but apparently they turned it around. Supposedly.

1·2 months agoNope, it’s either right click or the goddamn scroll that fails.
It’s incredibly interesting how, according to western media, all the ukrainian attacks on russian infrastructure never cause any deaths but russian attacks always cause deaths every time.
COBOL itself isn’t really that bad. It’s the lack of modern toolling you’d expect that will make you tear your hair apart. And also JCL. Fuck JCL.
That’s not what I said? You can have both. You are the one closing yourself to art with subtext.
People say a lot more than what their words mean all the time. Having that in art is just part of being made by people.
They must have reached the conclusion that their surface fleet would just be a liability, it makes no sense to waste resources on this. But then again, they haven’t been able to stop the war in Ukraine so it’s unlikely they could do anything to China any time soon.

Memes@lemmy.ml•If I had a dollar for every time I saw a liberal on lemmy bringing up fictitious UYgHUr GeNoCiDE.....
6·6 months agoEvery single “evidence” I’ve ever seen of this genocide ended up as hoax (remember the meat truck?), so I think it’s pretty safe to say it isn’t a thing.

You might think that but you have to remember the New republic was formed after the emperor died, and that it failed for much of the same reasons the old one did.
