Developer of PieFed, a sibling of Lemmy & Mbin.
You could try to find an open source project to contribute to? That’ll get give you a nice big codebase to grapple with.
You need to install some things (“build dependencies”) before installing this app. Examine the documentation to see what those things are.
Story by a game dev who gave up on Rust after 3 years https://loglog.games/blog/leaving-rust-gamedev/
Pretty good discussion about this on Mastodon - https://friend.camp/@aparrish/113053044485254385
Not lame, I appreciated it and as a result will be implementing ID-based pagination, sometime.
If you like Elixer you might enjoy contributing to Akkoma, which is similar to (but better than) Mastodon.
Yeah, it’s nicely integrated. Also because it’s on my phone there is the option to use the voice input mode of the keyboard which is a vibe. Talking with an ai feels different.
Yeah, that is amazing.
Also this seems incredible:
As an example, rural access to piped water in India as of 15th August 2019 was 16.8% and at present it is 74.7%.
A lot of pipes in a very short time?!
Python is the number 1 programming language and has been for years. All of these sources use different methods to calculate their rankings and come to the same conclusion:
It depends
Let’s not split hairs between dead or wounded. Getting wounded while starving and no hospitals functioning and everyone around you has dysentery dooms someone to a very slow, very painful death.
They wrote their own GUI toolkit (oof) and it’s hardware accelerated (argh), so OS portability is going to be unusually difficult unless they planned for it from the beginning. No mention of that in the article, so I doubt they did.
Check out Magic Mirror or Dakboard.
Being mediocre is fine. And you can’t expect to feel competent after 2 years, especially if you’re not in a supportive environment. Maybe 5 years. It took me muuuch longer than 5… This stuff is hard, don’t expect to master it quickly.
Wow, the big providers are $$$$
I’ve been using it heavily for the last 6 months. It’s been great, considering it’s running on a shoestring, volunteers, etc.

While both Lemmy and Mastodon use ActivityPub, the way they send ActivityPub messages to each other differs quite a bit. There is not a simple or quick solution to this. However recently I read about Lemmy having improved integration with https://a.gup.pe/, a service that adds Groups support to Mastodon so that might be something you want to try out.
Mastodon having so many users makes it a tempting target for integration but federation with software that uses Groups properly (e.g. PeerTube, Friendica) is likely to be easier to achieve.
Try the PyCharm IDE. It’s really smart and helpful. The free ‘community edition’ is fine.
Great!
But now try to set a breakpoint and do some debugging and you’ll realise why most devs use real IDEs instead.
