When someone previously told a vrtx vm not to auto boot after power up and none of the remote access is working either… Both undocumented as well, of course. And your tired AF tech is statically configuring the wrong IP range on their laptop to manu because it’s been a long shutdown day and are also unfamiliar with the system in general (me). Good times, I figured it out though, but lots of sweating and swearing.
“What do you see when it’s coming back up?”
“Right back to the problem I’m having!”
“So you don’t see [insert OEM logo here]?”
“Nope. And it’s still frozen!”
“Where’s the power button you’re holding down?”
“On the monitor!”
Open the window and throw it out, please

Welcome to Costco, I love you!
That’s most of Canada really, outside of southern Ontario and Quebec. Sometime in the last 12 months Eastlink dropped their gigabit cable by $40 where I am so I’m hopeful for incoming competition finally. My 5 year goal is to move outside of town, so I’ll likely be going with skynet because I highly doubt I’ll have much choice.
Even if it’s shit, there are options for internet so long as the sky is accessible.
Choose the recluse house! I bought a cheap house with neighbours and now the recluse houses are expensive. I made the bad choice.
I prefer that when done properly a network admin is simply forgotten about.
Where’s my network admins at?
I wish our cabinets looked like this… we’re supposed to be getting a retractable patch panel soon for a pilot. Hopefully it doesn’t suck.
The weirder thing is I was replacing a users desktop the other day and updating default apps. Edge did its usual “pleas love me” bit but then so did Windows Mail as I was changing it to Outlook 365 of all things…
I’m already in a state of holding off on turning on my furnace. Had frost on my windshield the other morning. The afternoons are still warm enough to heat up the house with the curtains open and it’s glory sleeping at night with the windows open. I did have a hydronic space heater on for a little bit this morning, though.
Bartok! Bartok! Bartok! Bartok!
