Simple; it’s a thug’s game, played by thugs and watched by thugs. (Source; grew up in ‘80s Britain - football violence ruined this game forever and scenes like this prove the point year after year.)

The Luddites were members of a 19th-century movement of English textileworkers who were against the usage of certain types of automated machinery owing to their concerns relating to worker pay, child labour, working conditions and output quality. They often destroyed the machines in organised raids.[1][2] Members of the group referred to themselves as Luddites, self-described followers of “Ned Ludd”, a legendary weaver whose name was used as a pseudonym in threatening letters to mill owners and government officials.[3]
I’m sure it won’t take long to infect everything.
Which region?
I haven’t seen this apart from an account pop up that can be dismissed so far in UK.

Yeah I got it too, but to only native English speakers, licks eggs is mostly only literal.
I still like ingverklerten as an idea though, even if it is wrong. Like the other one we tried, ‘glockenende’ to mean ‘bellend’
That’s assuming you know that Germans use eggs to mean testicles. I only learned this trying to joke with a German colleague that the red headed guy in our office was ‘ingver-klerten’ Without realising that they don’t use ginger to mean a colour, or nuts to mean balls/testicles. In English ‘licking eggs’ is just a slow way to have breakfast.
In the UK, if the 1st May isn’t the Monday, then the next Monday becomes a ‘bank holiday’ Traditionally means the banks don’t open, so no other businesses could get anything done - therefore National holiday. Now it means any big business with full time employment doesn’t open (9-5 M-F types) all the other stuff opens slightly reduced hours. The local corner shop, still full on as if nothing happened. So May 4th is no work this year.
This’ll go well with my LMDE7
linux mint, but Debian edition, i feel is left of the centre split, but only a bit.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Australians banned teens from using social media. Now, Australians are worried about teenagers going outside with e-bikesEnglish
122·6 months agoThe article has nothing to do with social media, the only mention of it is how adults put a comment on FB about antisocial behaviour of ebike riders. And clearly the clip of ripping up a golf course is antisocial. So actually the issue is, like in the UK, illegal emotorbikes that people should be prosecuted for.
Brilliant!! Why didn’t I have this before? I have a 2005 ‘modern classic’ that has a cd multichanger, and the glovebox has a cakebox cd stack in that could definitely migrate to this Sun visor
So what’s wrong with kg for weighing things, st & lb for people, miles for driving distance, metres for building things, C for temperature and feet for ascent of hills and stuff? That’s what a 70’s born UK kid thinks like. So 16:15 is said out loud, quarter past four, maybe rarely 1615, but never 16 o’clock and? No. O’clock is only on the hour. If it’s got bits on the end you say everything except the ‘o’clock’ But I love what you’ve done with ‘half-four’ to mean 3.30. I really enjoy doing that with my German colleagues.

A buddy of mine had one of these years ago, I really liked it and you’ve reminded me I need to get one from aliexpress. ;)
