1·11 days agoI did a cat6a install a few years ago all throughout my house, even though I only had 1 piece of hardware that could use the speeds at the time (‘I’m future-proofing us’). But damm 🥵

Encyclopedia (classroom copy, dated 1983): rarely updated or vetted by outside sources, perfect, basically the second word of god
Online encyclopedia: heresy and lies, you can’t trust it, do your own research
Me: “this seems fucking moronic”
I got around this rule in school by just using the sources that Wikipedia pages used, and got full marks for it, even though I did the exact thing that they said can’t be trusted. But the fact that if you publish an encyclopedia, it’s gospel, but if you print it out, it’s trash, just enrages me.

33·25 days agoThe fact that ‘meeting that should have been an email’ and ‘5am’ would make me way more pissed at the job than the shitty software. Unless I’m on the clock or getting paid overtime, that meeting can suck my balls. 110%, do not pass go, do not collect $200. Not if the building is on fire, not that the CEO perished in a freak accident, nothing. That is absolute horseshit and they can brief me when I am on the clock next. Or, you know, they can email me. Like they should have initially.

45·1 month agoproprietary protocol that requires licensing and has been behind in every way vs DP
Hard pass. Only if they axed the licensing fee would I start to consider it as an alternative. Right now it’s just a grift.
On a couple of occasions, after finding the missing item, I have continued to search even though it has been found. Because absolutes are wrong, and I’m here to prove it.
Yo dawg, I heard you like power…

I have a filter that checks for “Fwd:” and immediately trashes it. If you cant be bothered to format even the subject line, you’re a lost cause. Cut down significantly on useless shit from my parents especially.
I have like 150 other filters that sort messages into folders, trash others, and immediately permanently delete others. My inbox now has 1-5 messages in the morning, and usually 1 or 2 throughout the day, vs the like 25-50 daily. Having unique email addresses for each recipient is great too, since if you unsubscibe from some garbage and it doesn’t actually unsubscibe (fuck you, AT&T Business), you can just blackhole it and it’s gone.
I prefer email to texting or calling, since there’s less expectation of a rapid response, but I got tired of getting so much garbage all the time - and I was already actively trying to keep my inbox clean 15+ years ago.
