The “pressuring suicide n them” is not factual stats. It is misinformation. Of course you will have an outlier doctor who gives terrible advice, but doctors will do their best for treatment (physical/mental) to help people. A dying patient with severe pain was always given palletive care options, and now there is an extra option. My friends dad had incurable cancer, and constant suffering, and given a month at most. He asks for MAID because he said why would I want 4 weeks more pain/suffering when I can choose my own ending.
I believe I read schooling there is free, so more doctors per capita is not limited by how rich your family is
Yep, the film has you empathize with both sides of their story. I though the actor playing the town simpleton did such a spectacular job too, just the right amount of quirk and lack of focus in his eyes.
Banshees of Inishirin.
Story of a friendship going sour and one guy having trouble moving on. Some great acting. A dark comedy. Quite refreshing from the Hollywood schlock that is typically in our local thestre
This site has good benchmarking of unoptimized and optimized code for several languages. C+ blows Python away. https://benchmarksgame-team.pages.debian.net/benchmarksgame/index.html
Agreed. Or look at the manual effort, is it worth coding it, or just do it manually for one offs. A coworker would code a bunch of mundane tasks for single problems, where I would check if it actually will save time or I just manually manipulate the data myself.
Because when it is to actually get paid work done, all the bloat adds up and that 3 days upfront could shave weeks/months of your yearly tasks. XKCD has a topic abut how much time you can spend on a problem before effort outweighs productivity gains. If the tasks are daily or hourly you can actually spend a lot of time automating for payback
And note this is one instance of task, imagine a team of people all using your code to do the task, and you get a quicker ROI or you can multiply dev time by people
SID was a chip with both digital and analog sides to the die and can do a lot of things still, making them sought after. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOS_Technology_6581
I play these on repeat occasionally.

It seems it is a product of modern western style culture. Move away from family for independence, spend best days of life slogging away to live paycheck to paycheck.
I worked with a few filipinos that immigrates to Canada. While the believe Canada is a good place to live, they mention the lonely culture here. They said in the Phillapines every weekend, or sometines day, was a party with friends or family. They always made up a party to celebrate something.
I think we have forgotten that communty village living is what humans evovled to, and yearn.
Another Filipino said canada is great, but everything needs money. Housing is expensive, food is expensive, cars, and all the bills. He said back home we live more simple, no need for a heating bill because of climate, no need for a water bill. If I want water I drill a hole in the ground. So life is about living not earning
Starts with NO wildlife will kill you, describes all the ones that can ;)
It is like Canada, we have Bears, Wolves, Moose and Polar Bears, etc.
Stay out of their way and you will be fine, they aren’t actively scouting homes to kill people.
Yeah being locked into an application sucks. I was lucky that the Proprietary CAD package we run had a linux version. Sadly Siemens decided linux share was low so dropped the GUI version of it, but left us cli version for batch processing work, so back to Windows to be on latest release.
My dad had some albums, maybe Mike Oldfield or others…there was a train going through a station, and hearing it pass from left to right in stereo was amazing at the time
Good on Yemen, doing what the USA is scared to even talk about
Upscayl app does this quite well without chagpt ai stuff
Yes, i heard a quote “LLM could pass the turing test, but eventually they won’t” due to starting to be too good at replies and humans will know its AI.
This. teaching kids to pick up their trash and dispose properly, raises kids that understand that the environment can be polluted and we need to be stewards
