  • I’m not sure if I understood your deduction. The literal translation of “Zange” would be “tongs”, “pliers” or “pincer”. Hinges are the things that make doors swing and hold to a wall right?

Multiple source say the origin of the word isn’t documented but the best explanation they come up with is that pliers can be used to bend something into a different form.

My guess was it has its origin in the proverb “Das würde ich nicht mal mit der Kneifzange anfassen” which translates to “I wouldn’t even touch that with pliers” as in stuff you detest that much that you rather would stay away from it.

  • Maybe whataboutism here but there are beagles in the UK right now waiting to be experimented on them (possibly for a new dog food brand) and eventually killed. There are billions of animals all around the world dying a slow and agonizing death, trapped in CAFO facilities right now, of whom 20% alone are getting fed to dogs in the US.

I think some cat getting fed a well formulated vegan cat food containing taurine, vitamin A & D3, omega 3 & 6, magnesium, copper, iodine, selenium, manganese, zink & calcium is astronomically better off than any aforementioned animals.

I fed a cat I had to take in for some time the AMI brand. She was wild for it.

I read somewhere (sorry no sauce but it seemed informed) that it’s a deliberate choice by him to appeal to working class boomers or something. Did you all know that a medium channeled his deceased dog which in turn told him to run for president?

  • I hope you can accept my apology. I just was in a very agravated mood because of all the ignorance on xitter. We’re try trying to make people less dumb there on multiple fronts and I think we starting to reach people in the last days and they change their stance.

I never watched IT Crowd, but I’m a big fan of Always Sunny, The Office and Arrested Development. I hope there’ll be times when I can enjoy those again and be in a better mood.

  • Then it must’ve been bad luck. I had plenty more over the course of a few month with a CS GO server and it wasn’t the game server because I often couldn’t login via SSH or the session just froze. And I definitely took precautions with a firewall, fail2ban and no root, no password only certificate SSH login (a tried and tested combination of measurements I use on plenty other ionos VPS).

You’re right the webinterface doesn’t really matter but the overall impression was much more professional on ionos with a slick interface for the config of the hw firewall.

It is day and night. Svelte is nearly vanilla JS/TS. No quirks and surprising side-effects like in React. No shadow DOM. With the new rune system in the next version it will even be better. For me it had the best DX of all frameworks I tried.

I suppose OP is frustrated because the business world hasn’t catched up and most of them still only search for React devs, which is in my opinion very stupid, because React can be so frustrating for devs. The reddit sub for svelte has ever so often posts by them praising the sanity of Svelte.

But it would be a valid point by OP if that is their reason when their income depends on it. We can only hope Svelte catches up in that regard.

I’m have done both, Spring Boot and Laravel on BE and Vue, Svelte and React on FE.

Don’t believe the FUD. Vue and Svelte are fun if you have a moderate understanding of HTML, JS/TS and CSS in your sleeve and those reactive frameworks are indefinitely better than vanilla JS or jQuery. React is another beast and I really didn’t like working with it.

Both Vue and Svelte have nice setup tools for NPM/PNMP (I’d recommend the latter) that create template applications in a few minutes which immediately run inside a local dev-server. Change some code and changes are immediately reflected inside the browser. It’s really a nice DX. And both frameworks have very nice ecosystems and GUI frameworks, e.g. VueUse or shadcn-svelte.

  • That’s not just YT. A lot of services and apps (e.g. amazon or xitter) you’re logged into and share links from add parameters (stuff behind the questionmark) to the link that identify in the end who has shared it.

Try to shave off as much as possible from a shared link and test if it still works. To get a feel for what you can delete from the link, try to navigate to the destination (e.g. YT-video) inside a browser with which you’re not logged into that service and which has preferrably cleared its history, cache etc. Then compare the link from that browser with the one from the browser you’re logged in with.
