I care in a general human sense.

Society talks big about wanting to reduce domestic violence but when there’s a clear cut example it’s radio silence.

      Just a little infuriating.

One particular over privileged couple of people don’t catch my eye at all for any other reason either, except when they are spreading hate or something like that. Weird to think everyone does notice or care what celebrities do. I honestly have no idea who his wife is or why I would know she’s abused.

Exactly, why do people care so much about celebrities. It’s understandable to appreciate their work/talent (movies or whatever) but to go beyond that to know whatever crap they are doing in their life is cringy.

I so agree. I admit there are a few celebrities that I like so much that I’d be interested in their life story a bit, but I’m absolutely not following news about them or really even interested in their kids or who they married. Even though those things are a part of them, I would be interested in their earlier life more – how did they become this person? Having said that, most biographies I have read have been snoozefests, sadly. Even when the person is insanely fascinating in an interview about their work, hearing about how they spent their summer in 1968 isn’t usually the most riveting story…

People PRIMARILY, before anything else, want to protect the status quo.

Unfortunately, SA and DV are part of that status quo. Therefore it’ll only ever get lip service cause DOING something would “shake up the meta.”

What happened to Ye’s attempted political carreer? Last I cared to check he was boldly planning to run as presidential candidate in the US stop-calling-us-nazi party.

What… Should my reaction be? Lol do you want us to all crowdfund an emergency evacuation of his wife?

Like… This doesn’t even make sense. “We are all ok with it” until five seconds ago I didn’t even know about this situation but being responsible or able to help is also a factor and neither of those apply to us so why the fuck would we do anything?

Some of you are just the worst when it comes to falling on a sword for anyone and anything.

Falling on your sword doesn’t mean what you’re trying to imply in this context but I digress.

You’re right, there isn’t a whole lot you can do about this particular example. However it is likely at some point in your life you will witness a relationship that is unhealthy or abusive and then what will you do?

For whatever you think about celebrities the behaviour they exemplify does have an effect about what is permissible in society generally, they set ‘trends’.

Right now in my opinion society (largely the media) is saying it’s all cool and normal and so I’m expressing my frustration in the greatest artistic medium of our time, memes.

We’re not supposed to victim-blame, but imo this applies only if the person was lured under false pretenses, or forced somehow.

It’s Kanye West. Everyone knows who and what Kanye is. Even if you don’t it’s a 5 second google search to find out.

      Abuse often works this way.

Usually it’s intermittent and when they aren’t being abused they are super loving and caring.

This leads to people thinking they are doing something wrong or that the abuser is a loving partner with problems that can be worked on.

Abuse is incredibly complicated and until you’ve been through it it’s really hard to understand how anyone could put up with it.

It’s often bi-directional as well. Sadly I know someone in a battered marriage situation and a big part of why they won’t leave is bc they don’t want the court (they have a kid) to find out they were also getting physical with their spouse. Codependency is a bitch

          100%

There’s reactive abuse. Where in response to abuse you defend yourself with abusive behaviour. Then the original abuser plays the victim and gas lights you.

My marriage was like this. It was hell.

Who is Kanye West’s wife? He and Kim Kardashian divorced in 2022. He never formally married Bianca Censori.

    They’re both adults.

If she didn’t want crazy, she should not have married Kanye. Get a divorce if he’s not what you thought he was.

    It… Depends.

There are some relationships where that’s part of the T&Cs, and what both people want. I’m not into a lifestyle D/s kinda thing, but that’s what some people want, because they don’t want to be “responsible” for making life choices. I’m not convinced it’s healthy, but it’s still their choice.

If you’re talking about Kim Kardashian, they’ve been divorced for over a year now. “Kanye West’s Wife” doesn’t exist.

I get it guys, I haven’t been keeping up with the Wests.
